Pat"s review
Eset Nod32 Antivirus 4.0 works great. This is the second time I've bought this item. It work quitely in the background on your pc. I first heard of Nod32 from my brother and then found out lots of people use this product. I bought Nod32 from Amazon and they shipped it right away. I will order it again from Amazon. It's so easy to order from them. Thanks Amazon!!

Do Not Buy Eset NOD32
This product is set up in such a way that once you have installed it, it is incredibly difficult to remove. First off, I should say that the product, while it does it's job, is not equal to other antivirus products. Secondly, the new purchase price is $40, but to renew is $80. When it comes time to renew, it has popups every half hour that will sometimes kick you out of a full screen program. It is not possible to turn the popups off. It is not possible to turn the program off. It is not possible to remove the program via the control panel, nor does it allow you to delete the files containing Eset. The only way to remove the program is to download the uninstaller from the Eset website, restart your computer in safe mode, run the uninstaller (at which point your computer warns you that this program may seriously harm your computer), go through several steps using the command prompt, and restart your computer again. Furthermore, using the uninstaller will change your network settings, requiring you to set up your network again from scratch. Do not buy this terrible product.

Unupdateable
I have been a long-timer user and fan of ESET NOD32. I used both the second and third versions without any problems. NOD32's consistency and negligeable system resource usage always attracted me. But it's a totally different story with the fourth version. I installed the CD on 2 of my computers but both times I got the "Database could not be updated/Virus Signature database update failed" message. My computer is at risk now since its signature database is almost a year old. I visited the online customer support and performed all the suggested instructions but to no avail. I sent my problem to the Customer Service team but their answer was not useful at all. It's a shame they don't have a customer service telephone number at all (I'd be grateful if someone could provide me with the number, if there's one). I really don't know why the Username and Password that ESET itself emailed to me after registration does not work in the update process.

Get Daily Updates
For sure Eset guys are master in updating.Daily i get new virus signature but it`ll not make you safe against most of trojans . As my cousin share my comp and he visit random sites and most of time upwanting trojan start to download automatically just by clicking the link - it suppose to be anti virus job to quarnatine data and don`t let same virus infect again that made me re-intsalling windows, but its not case with this one.Pros :Good point about this anti virus is, it isn`t memory hog so you can easily run other applications while it is still running in back ground.

Best-of-class at the present time
I am a former technology professional, and I have used almost every AV package on the market at one time or another. These days, it seems that the flavor of the month in antivirus software is continually changing. When I'm in the market for a new license, I need to do my homework, because what I was using before is rarely still the best. Most recently I was running Bit Defender on my machines at home. It was a good scanner, but I got fed-up with the bugs (scheduled scans stopped working, etc) and their tech support leaves a lot to be desired. I just purchased a 3 license pack of ESET NOD32 AV, and although I have only been using it for a week, I have made some observations that I'd like to share.- The scanner has a VERY small memory footprint and is so unobtrusive when installed, you will forget that it's even running!- The engine seems to be very good -- it caught some malware on my system that my previous software didn't detect.- Contrary to what another reviewer reported, the activation process of the software isn't any different than any other legal software that you already own. Inside the CD case is an activation code that you need to register on ESETs website. You are then emailed a username and password, which you then use to convert the trial into the registered version (I installed and used the trial prior to my purchase of the license).- The UI is OK -- not bad, not great.- The logging is excellent, and the on-demand scan speed is a little faster than average.- The software also includes a command-line scanner that can be run within safe mode, which is necessary to do if core OS files are infected and/or locked.Anyone looking for an all-in-one solution may want to pass on this one, but if you're in the market for a high-quality AV scanner that is small, fast, and very good at 1 thing, this is the antivirus package for you. I hope the next time that I need to renew my license ESET is as good as the current version.** update ** 11/06/2011I have encountered a nasty bug in v5, which I have confirmed on the ESET support forums. On Win XP machines, plugging in a USB drive after the OS has booted with ESET v5 running will frequently result in the machine locking up solid. This has not been a problem on my Win 7 machine. After 2 weeks of this, I rolled both of my Win XP boxes back to v4, and the problem disappeared. I haven't heard anything in the pipeline about a fix. I was asked to submit system log info and a memory dump, but none was generated due to the severity of the crash. I'm still using ESET and I do like it, but I just thought you might like to know.** update ** 01/30/2012Although I like this scanner overall, I have come to develop some gripes after using it for the past couple of months. The UI is confusing and poorly laid-out. It is annoying that there is no facility for automated emails after scanner operations (almost all of the competing products to this -- ESET only offers this in the enterprise version), there is no way to spawn external programs prior to or after scanner operation (again, easy to do with others), and the logging offers either too little information or way too much, making it of little value from an administration standpoint. I find it irritating that the bug (above) has yet to be addressed in a formal manner -- I paid for version 5, yet am stuck using version 4 on my XP machines, which will not get upgraded until this coming summer. I also don't like the fact that there is no option to throttle the scanner resource usage, so when a scan runs, you're at the mercy of your hardware horsepower in terms of machine responsiveness while the scan is in progress. Don't get me wrong, I do like the package overall, but these are some points that I thought would be useful to know before anyone commits to a platform. Compared to the other junk on the market, this is still one of the best, IMHO. But, I wish ESET would make these improvements, which would make it the best by far.

Thew worst software in 15 years
I used to have Norton, Kaspersky, MacAfee. And all of them were good. This year I tried a new one and I got a virus on 2 computers. I'm just regular user but I have a professional friend who helped me. One of my computers has Vista and was working really slow. So I uninstalled and it works fine now. I would not recommend.
