Not The Knife That Amazon Advertises
I've had a great Zwilling JA Henckels Twin Signature 6-inch utility knife (30721-162) for more than ten years, and so I wanted to purchase the same for my sisters. I found what appeared to be a twin of mine on Amazon for a good price. Buyer beware! This knife is not the knife that Amazon advertises, and it's a different knife from what's on the back of the package. Very distinct differences, like model number (30723-163 on the package's barcode, 30721-160 on the pictured blade, and 30723-162 on the actual knife). These seem minimal, but there are significant differences, like blade shape. The knife itself has a "lip" that sticks out just past the handle, so the user cannot use the entire blade on a cutting board. Another reviewer said he had to grind off this lip just to make the knife usable. The blade is also not as high as the one that's pictured. It is advertised as a 6 inch blade, but it is 6.5 inches long.

caveat emptor
First review I've ever made on an order from amazon. Mostly satisfied even though some items were questionable in quality but not worth the pain. There is no way this knife is a genuine Henckle. They would have never let it out of the factory. I've owned and used Henckels for 30 years. What I received was a flimsy knife with chips or imperfections in the blade. Probably dangerous to use. Not even going to try it. Send it back, what a hassle and now a growing lesson - beware even if you order quality names of imposters.Anyway I'll draw the line here and suck up the cost of my time to return it on principle for screwing with a Henckle now...

> > 4" Paring Knife -- AFTER SIX MONTHS OF USE, I'M STILL DISAPPOINTED
IN SHORT -- It's pretty. It's sharp. But it isn't so functional. So far (about 6 months), it has held it's edge well. It is okay for general purposes and light slicing, and might be great for some specialized task (particularly if you have small hands, keep your hands dry, and are attentive). But it is not a good design for a general "go to" or "workhorse" paring knife, and is a poor choice for peeling.> THE HANDLE -- Mostly, I'm disappointed with the handle -- It is much too small for my smallish-man-hands. There is no particular grip -- no natural place your fingers naturally fit, so it is easy to grip it too high or too low, particularly if you are in a hurry and not paying close attention. The surface is hard and smooth -- and therefore potentially slippery when wet or greasy. There is no guard (or equivalent) to discourage your hand from riding up too near the blade. On several occasions I've found my forefinger almost under the blade as I started a slice. The knife would be positively dangerous to use for any purpose with wet or oily hands -- particularly in a busy kitchen.> POOR CHOICE FOR PEELING -- On several occasions, I've found the lower part of my thumb almost touching the blade of the Henckel's while peeling fruit (with my forefinger fully on the top edge of the blade) -- because the handle has no "grip". Yeah, I know, there are special knives for peeling -- which are the choice when you've got alot of peeling to do (in fact, I have several peeling knives) -- but typically I slice a peel a single apple (or other fruit or vegetable) and then slice it -- and it is a waste of motion to use two different knives for that chore. All of the previous paring knives I've used were good for both peeling and slicing.> The knife design (long and tapered) gives it alot of reach for detailed work -- but in 6 months I've never had any reason to use the knife that way. It might be handy for cutting thin slices, and then transferring the slices to a serving plate (via the tip of the blade) -- but again, I've never had reason to use it that way.> BOTTOM LINE -- UPDATE after 1 year: I still haven't found any routine use for the Henckels paring knife, and virtually never use it. I replaced it with a much cheaper Mercer paring knife. I'm not crazy about the Mercer--but it is much better than the Henckels as a general purpose paring knife

Not worth the money
Not worth what I paid for this knife. Only held sharp edge for about 4 uses then had to be re sharpened again. Didn't hold an edge any longer after this. Was surprised and disappointed because Henckles have always had such a good reputation

Big disappointment
I spent more money on this knife than I usually do thinking that the higher price equated with quality. Wrong! I couldn't even slice a tomato with it My $2.99 paring knife puts it to shame. Sending it back.
