Is It Just Me?: Or Is It Nuts out There?

With All Due Respect....
This is the name of the last chapter of this book. This chapter consists of three lines. I'm going to quote them. You can read them without ruining the rest of the book for you if you haven't read the chapters that come before. They say:"These were just things on my mind and some ideas of ways I could be better. Maybe it helps you too. If not, pass this book on!"This book is Whoopi's opinion on a whole range of what she perceives to be irritations. She knows that she isn't alone in her irritation. She doesn't say that you're wrong if you disagree. She does use humor, she is irreverent, and she is also serious in ALL of it. She doesn't come across as perfect in her own conduct, in fact, she states more than once that she most definitely isn't. She finds those things irritating in other people and in herself. She does not deny that she is guilty of the same things that she is complaining about.I am a big Whoopi fan, and I could hear her saying these things in my head while I was reading them. The language that she writes is the language that you hear coming out of her mouth every day on TV etc. Whoopi addresses issues that happen and that we don't seem to notice anymore because they have become so commonplace, they've become a habit. She talks about things like cutting your toenails or picking your nose on the bus or train on the way to work. She doesn't like the word 'stupid' and yet doesn't have a problem with people using certain swear words, and why. How you can swear at someone without actually using the words aloud, just thinking them can have an effect. Things you could consider saying when you've been put on the spot and don't want to hurt someone other people's feelings.I really enjoyed reading this book. I did find myself chuckling at what she says, how she phrases things, and the irony in some of her statements. This book uses events in her life as examples, and it is not her memoirs. If you are buying this book expecting to read only her comedy, expecting to laugh aloud, you'll be disappointed. If you asked me to describe this book in two words, I would say "humorous" and "thoughtful".

Is It Just Me? Review
To me there is only one book that is the greatest of all times, and this book may be found pretty much anywhere--The Bible. I have now learned that there is a second book that should be offered in hotels and motels nightstands--Is It Just Me? Whoopi is one of my favorite comedians, and the reason being because she always tells it like it is and she's usually right!I laughed so much through this book until I was in tears. I wish to tell Whoopi she is NOT ALONE in her feelings on human behavior. I have often blogged about the very thing she talks about in this book on human rudeness. She doesn't like the times we live in any more than I do, and I'm just glad to know I'm not alone in my thinking. I'm not alone--thank God!Anyone who cannot see the realism in this book is one of the people she's probably referring too when she talks about the Assholian person. This book is too damn funny and sad, because our society is just loaded with inconsiderate people thinking they can do and say whatever the hell crosses their minds. If you're one of those people who don't understand what bad manners are, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK! Whoopi never disappoints. I loved this book and I think it should be made available in every public place possible. THANK YOU Whoopi for keeping it very real. An outstanding funny read as only told by one of the greats!

So Woopi!
This is a book I bought by mistake thinking it was her newest book. What a great mistake! I found that I could have supplied the titles and content ( though not as well or funny as she did). I'm so glad I found this book. It was a wonderful read and I'm so glad I am not the only one having these thoughts and beliefs!! Thank you Woopi!

"Is It Just Me?" Or Is This Just an OK Book?
Whoopi Goldberg sounds off against the strange things in this world - public toe nail clipping, talking on the cell while in the check-out line, and other general incivility. When you break it down, comedy memoirs/biographies such as "Is It Just Me?" have two basic criteria: humor (how funny is the author/comedian?) and interesting information (what interesting perspectives/ideas or new biographic bits are there?). I've now had the opportunity to read a grand total of three of these types of books: Bossypants by Tina Fey, Seriously...I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres, and now this one. And if I had to rank them according to the previously two ascribed criteria, they would be as follows:Least < GreatestHumor:Seriously...I'm Kidding! < Is It Just Me?: Or is it nuts out there? < BossypantsInteresting Information:Seriously...I'm Kidding! < Is It Just Me?: Or is it nuts out there? < BossypantsIt's more meaty than "Seriously...I'm Kidding", but maybe not as funny. (OK, maybe this isn't a fair comparison as I'm sure "Is It Just Me?" is probably at least twice the length of "Seriously".) It definitely falls WAY below the bar that the amazing "Bossypants" set. The insights it has are just "meh" - your average "look at how people behave now, back in my day..." stuff. And as for background on the author? Well, if you are reading for that, you will be disappointed, as there is virtually nothing about Whoopi's life. All in all, it's a Meh book. Decent writing, some amusing insights, but nothing particularly funny (a shame because I do think Whoopi is funny), not particularly thoughtful or insightful or even uplifting ("Seriously" is way more uplifting), not particularly interesting from a biographical sense (and I get it - I'm not expecting this to be another "tell all" celebrity dish book).Fortunately, I got this as one of the Kindel Daily Deals, so I spent maybe $3 on it. If I would have spent any more than that, I would have felt a bit cheated. It's ok - just not anything really amazing or out of this world. If you are a fan of Whoopi, maybe this would be up your alley - or maybe you'd just be nodding your head going, "Is it just me, or do I know this already?"Brought to you by:*C.S. Very wise
We all should listen more to Whoopi Goldberg. This truly beautiful woman speaks a lot of sense. This book was great to read, although I couldn't put it down so it only lasted a day! I would definitely recommend it!

Good read
This book is a good read, but not as good as her first one, 'book' - i'd recommend both books.
