Perfect for keeping an eye on energy consumption
One of these arrived faulty but credit to the seller they sent me two more to replace the failed one. They do the job, are easy to read thanks to the backlight and retain data for awhile thanks to a built in battery. They allow you to input your per unit electricity cost ,e.g in my case at the writing of this review 34p/kwh and therefore you can see at a glance how much an appliance is costing you to run.

Excellent for value product.
If you are wondering, how do I switch OFF the background light... it switches off AUTMATICALLY after 10 minutes, so don't worry =)amazing product and value.

Sluggish and poor display
The backlight is perfectly fine, BUT the actual LCD screen is rubbish. Dim, unclear and VERY poor viewing angles. You need to right bang, dead-centre in front of the device to be able to read it, which means getting down on your hands and knees to read it it it’s plugged in to a standard height U.K. wall outlet. Also, for the kitchen, forget being able to read it from the side because it’s behind a microwave or something. Again, dead centre in front, or you can’t see anything on the screen. Finally, if you have to unplug it to move it to another socket, or moving a device because the battery is utter pants. If it’s unplugged for more than a few seconds, you have lost your data; total time run, total consumption, high and low draw, and cost per KWh so you can’t unplug the device to take a record, since the backlight does not work if not plugged in, pressing the buttons flicker-dims the LCD readout for the few seconds you have a readout before it dims and dies, and then you have to reprogram it after you give it power again, in its new location IF you can read the display. The head of each unit is very bulky to the side. You cannot use the adjacent socket on either side of the meter because it’s so bulky.Positives? Yes. It seems to read accurately (or at least consistently against other devices from the same batch) I have 4 or these and a couple from other brands. These meters are definitely from the cheap end of the market, and seem to have sourced their LCDs from a bargain bin’s reject pile.I had TCM ones “Tchibo” 20 years ago that took LR44 battery backups for the display and memory backup, but this claims to have a rechargeable battery in it.I highly doubt it. I think it just uses a capacitor because I’ve had these plugged in for days and the outcome is still the same. You can’t programme the power overload limit alarm either. It’s fixed, so if you’re using it on an extension socket, you need to use it at the wall, partly for its bulk, and partly because most extensions won’t safely manage 3680KWh at the end, especially if it’s coiled. Very limiting if you’re trying to evaluate the draw from one device on the extension rather than everything on that whole rig. There are many MUCH better options with properly useable backup batteries, clear and legible screens from varying angles, and slim enough to fit the width of a single gang outlet so things can be plugged in beside it (although with these meters, you’re always going to lose the socket above on on a block or reel due to the height of the display). If you’re looking for something more compact, especially if you don’t need the Power Factor, I’d recommend a smart plug with energy monitoring from TP Link or Meross or something. They don’t have a display for instant visual confirmation, but your smartphone app will often keep the usage and draw records to refer back on, too.Hope this helpsUpdate: now some of the LCD segments have started failing on 2 of the displays.I will not be getting these monitors again.

you have to be looking up from below the out socket
screen display is total rubbish.. ok if you have high level mains sockets, but if yours are normal down my skirting you have to lay on the floor to look up at the display... piss poor angle of view. only viewable from below.. honestly this has to be a design fault so cant reccomend
