It's funny how just about everyone that you hear complaining about a stripped out oil pan plug has been getting their oil changed at some lube shop. Same story here. Was beside myself trying to figure out how to resolve this problem after the shop was less than stand-up about how to resolve the situation. This kit worked fine to help me take my M12 stripped out pan up to an M13 to use their plug.If you have ever tapped threads before, then this kit makes it pretty easy to get back on the road with the exception of one item as noted below. If you've never tapped threads and are still feeling brave I suggest having one of the expanding rubber plugs available as a "life boat" in case everything doesn't go as planned so that you have not disabled the vehicle.One big complaint - and advice on how to resolve. This kit came with copper and aluminum crush washers. My pan that stripped was aluminum, so none of the crush washer options make sense. So this meant I needed another option. After tapping the pan up to an M13 from an M12, I didn't want to strip these new threads. A quick trip to the car parts store, a combo aluminum/rubber seal/washer and the new plug seals fine without requiring too much torque to stress new threads. WIN!

Had to get my own handle but the set is complete. Just what I needed.

Someone (me) over tightened the oil pan drain plug at some point during one of the many oil changes. The plug seemed like it just wasn’t tightening so I decided to stop before causing more damage. I bought this kit, followed the instructions to the letter and had threads cut in 10 minutes. Make sure you pour 1-2 qts. of oil through the motor to clean out any metal shavings before installing the new drain plug.

This is a very nice selection of drain plug sizes. It should work on almost all stripped oil drain threads.

Great kit, having extras of each size is great. Just fixed a family rig, 8.1L GMC that Jiffy lube stripped and blamed past oil changes…Right no issue previously….HmmmAnyways dealer quoted 3k+ for a new pan, purchased kit and fixed it with first oversized plug. I’d give them 5 stars, but drain washers seem to be very generic and fit plugs to loose. Picked up locally proper drain washer and now perfect. Taps are good quality and should last me forever, hopefully I don’t actually use this kit to often 🤣🤣

Oil change shop stripped my Fiat 500 oil drain pan plug. They put in an odd-sized drain plug, which stripped out at next oil change. Quoted my around $1800 to replace oil pan (cast aluminum).I bought this kit, went 1mm larger tap and it is fixed.
