Why?
This product arrived with a loose axe head and some weird mold all over it. Was not worth it.

pretty neat
I don't really need something like this but its cool to have. The craftsmanship seems decent enough. the head doesn't wiggle and the handle feels good to hold. It looks cool too.

Showed up in extremely poor condition!!
Upon opening the box that had an "Amazon Warehouse inspected" sticker, the axe was in a plastic bag inside a bubble wrap pouch. The entirety of the bag had mold/mildew in it and it had infiltrated the axe itself. I considered returning, but it is a Christmas gift and not enough time to replace it....So instead I spent several hours cleaning, stripping, and restoring the axe as best I could. This entailed surface cleaning the mold/mildew, superficially soaking the wood in baking soda, neutralizing with vinegar, surface sanding, sealing the now raw wood, stripping the insanely thick grease off the axe head, scrubbing some black crusty residue off, re-oiling the head, cleaning the sleeve with leather cleaner (the amount of red dye that came off is INSANE, no way that wouldnt stain someones clothes), reconditioning the leather (it sucked in an insane amount of conditioner), lubricating the interior with oil, cleaning corrosion off/out of the snaps and brads. The axe head has a spot where the blue has been worn off (prior to my starting anything) and it coordinates with the interior side of a snap, which as mentioned was corroded. Something additional should have been done in the construction to protect the blade from the snaps.Overall, after restoring the axe myself, it is in okay condition but in no way was it worth the $150 I paid for it. I'd be happy for around $80.I'm unsure if the recipient will use or simply display this axe but it does seem like it would be sturdy to use. I don't think the blue patina would hold up at all.Overall, I would not purchase again or recommend. I would procure from a local sourced fabricator through a particular site where people sell handmade crafts.(Photos after the dirty and stained towels are after I completed my restoration)

DO NOT BUY! Axe is useless and NASTY.
When I saw the beautiful pictures and read the description of this axe I had to grab one. I grabbed the ‘titanium’ model and a few days later it arrived and I excitedly opened the box and then the bag it is in.I was shocked and horrified to say the least. The axe head looks good but it was so loose it almost fell off when I picked the axe up by the handle. ALL of the wood is in HORRIBLE shape, just nasty. Mold and mildew has invaded the entire haft. It is ‘wet’ and sticky to the touch. I couldn’t even hold it long enough to get a proper look at the head. It went back in the bag, in the garage until I find time to try to clean it and I spent a minute washing my hands. I can’t convey just how NASTY the handle it.I came here to see if anyone else had the same issue. I try not to look at other reviews so I am not , even unintentionally, affected to change anything in my review. Had I looked at the reviews before, I would not have ordered it.It seriously looks like this axe has sat somewhere extremely humid or even wet for a very long time. I read through a review by ‘CarolCakes’ and appreciate the advice given but I seriously think all the wood on mine is too far gone. It is SO soft I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a loss. Plus, it’s a lot of work to fix an axe that cost over $100.If I feel like the axe head and sheath might be worth saving, I’ll take care of them and see if I can find or make a new shaft.I would highly recommend NO ONE buy this. The seller HAD to know the condition these axes are in yet they still sold them for a high price.

Nice Detail On Head, Good Leather, but Needs work
Out of the box I expect to take a hatchet, axe, or knife straight out to field test it. Meaning I should be able to pick it up and start bayoneting kindling, shaping tent pegs, or cut some salami for a cook up. In this case I couldn’t do that as the handle was covered in mold, the handle had rust points, and manufacturing errors. The head itself is seated with only a single wedge – which is an acceptable approach – but as you can see we have gapping around the seating, the head isn’t finished back In its favor the leather sheathing was well made and well fitted and the details on the head are nice. If you can get it at about 40% off then it is a good deal. But understand, if it is like the one I have, you can expect to do some time in the shop to get it looking like the advertisement images.

What a piece of garbage
This came all covered in mold. The handle was completely covered in a black growth. The head was covered in a baked on grease of some sort. It looks horrible. I used a pressure washer to clean this up and was suprised to find that the handle looks like it’s made out of a pine 2x4 and the maker just used a torch or something to scorch the wood. The head once cleaned off wasn’t much better. The pattern wasn’t very defined and the grinding and bevels were not even from one side to the other. At this price it’s definitely not worth it. This is junk. It will take me longer to fix this than it would to build a new one. Definitely not worth my time.

Such a well made tool!
I really don’t have a use or a reason to own an axe but thus was so nicely made that I had to order it! The handle feels nice in my hand and the axe head looks great with the engraving! I got the chrome/steel one because I figured with sharpening, it wouldn’t change colors unlike the other ones. I’m glad I did because it’s not very sharp at all and needs a lot of sharpening! Besides the axe itself, it came with an authentic leather cover that looks like it should be able to hang on a belt so this was a great feature too! I can’t really say how well it cuts and chops because I haven’t used it or sharpened it yet…but the appearance and feel of it is amazing! I also don’t know how well it will hold a sharpen after use either. It’s the first axe I’ve owned and I say it’s a d**n good start!
