Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths

History or Legacy?
Dark Crisis by Joshua Williamson seems to say why not both--After the events of Death of the Justice League the world is getting darker, crime is becoming more prevalent and the villains are running amok (amoker?) Kal, Son of Superman thinks the world needs a NEW Justice League. There are a few problems with the idea and story concept initially-- with all the past incarnations of the JL why is this one so special or different? The Justice League individually has died before and it lasts as long as the story arc. What is different this time?Unfortunately, the first issue of Dark Crisis doesn't really address those questions--and in some ways the question is irrelevant, the JL aren't here and the world needs them yet as a reader this wasn't really new territory. On the plus side I do feel that writer Joshua Williamson is aware of this and I think the continuing story will address it.Overall, the first issue only addresses the need and the attempt at forming a new Justice League--and here is the second problem, with the removal of the original League from the table the story could feel like we are trying to scrape enough together to get a passable version of the JL --which puts our (new) heroes at a point where they are wannabes trying to prove their merit. Once again I think Joshua Williamson is aware of this and will address it as several characters in the book being it up.There is good art and the beginnings of a good story--time will tell if it pays off. Fingers crossed.

Awesome!
It's a great read so far. I'd recommend it to any comic book reader. The ending of this issue was unexpected.

Good Start
Just getting started, but definitely worth reading for the another crisis event. Really special since DC killed the Justice League.

Good setup!
Love the themes of legacy portrayed, and more so, watching the fallout to what such a tragedy would have on the DC Universe.A minor nitpick would be how Ollie, Dinah, and Zatanna don’t have statues, but that’s not a big deal. I guess it would’ve looked a bit crowded.Exited for next issue!

A decent beginning… of The End?
I’ll admit it… I have a soft spot for ALL the “Crisis” events. Geoff Johns’ “Infinite Crisis” from 2004/2005 remains one of my favorite DCU stories to this day, and this new and ongoing “Dark Crisis” has somewhat the same feel, or vibe, going on.I did not read the mainstream books leading up to this event, so I do feel a bit lost, but I’m in for the ride. It will be interesting to see how they address things like the meta-verse in this title, not to mention the Omni-Verse.The epic scale of these events are always fun to experience, and as far as opening salvos go? This one hits pretty hard.Dark… Indeed.
