ALTRAWomen's Lone Peak 7 Trail Running Shoe

The perfect hiking shoe! Not so much for the Lone peak 8’s though.
I never knew how much I needed a wide toe box in my shoes until I started wearing the Altra Lone Peaks. Now, I can’t find true comfort in any other shoe! I’ve tried wide shoes in the past. In fact, my hiking boots are wide. But the problem with wide shoes is that the whole shoe is wider than regular shoes, not just the toe box. But my foot is only wide around the ball of my foot. My mid-foot and heel areas are not wide. So wide shoes always feel big on me. I never realized how much regular shoes squeeze the ball of my foot, and become uncomfortable after a while. Now I notice it in every shoe. These shoes are not like typical wide shoes, as these are only wide in the toe box. I guess, according to shoe manufacturers, I’m abnormal, since no one else makes shoes with such a wide toe box. Even other styles of Altra do not compare to the Lone Peaks, which have Altra’s widest toe box. The Lone Peaks are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet, not only for the ball area of my foot, but I also love having plenty of room for my toes to spread out while hiking. I can actually feel my toes working to grip the uneven trail surface, which I wasn’t sure at first that I liked, because I actually felt like my foot muscles were getting a work-out . . . A new sensation for me. But after hiking in Lone Peaks for several years now, I absolutely love it! I feel like my feet are stronger! Who knew?! Anyway, I do have to mention that I have two pairs of the Lone Peak 6’s, and one pair of the Lone Peak 7’s. I tried on a pair of the Lone Peak 8’s, and was a little disappointed, because the sole of the shoe was not as squishy and comfortable as the 6’s and 7’s. Turns out, they added a rock plate into the soles of the 8’s, which makes them not as comfortable as the 6’s and 7’s. I don’t know why manufacturers always feel like they have to fix what isn’t broken, and in the process, they mess up a good thing. I will still probably end up buying a pair of the 8’s though, just because I love the wide toe box that much.

Great Shoes
I LOVE these shoes. In the past, I have had such a problem with my tennis shoes rubbing against my toes - particularly on longer walks. Even when I buy shoes that are labeled as wide, after a mile or two, my big toes wind up being so sore and chafed. For a while I thought this was just the way it had to be, but then I found this brand. The shape of their shoes actually make sense and match the natural foot shape. I loved them from the second I put them on - there was no "breaking in" period, they were comfortable right away. Great support, good traction, and best of all, plenty of room in the toe box. I bought these because I wanted something versatile that I could wear on paved surfaces as well as on a hiking trail. The day after I got them I went for a 6 mile walk and my toes didn't rub once. No issues, no soreness, nothing. Would definitely recommend.

Great all-around shoe
I needed a shoe that I could wear out and about and also could go into the woods and hike a nice trail. I'm a bit of an overpacker, so having a shoe that would serve multiple purposes for me really helps reduce what I'm carrying. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this shoe, and overall, it was rated quite well. My expectations were fairly high, and this shoe truly knocked it out of the park. First, they're incredibly lightweight, which is important for both usage and packing. They're attractive looking and match most casual outfits. I wear a size 8, and ordered a size 8. Perfect fit. The toe box is spacious and the shoe fits perfectly. The light grey is a nice, simple look, but I do worry about how easy they'll be to clean. They've been pretty good at fending off dirt, even as I tromped through the woods after a rain. I need ankle support on most hikes, so I likely won't wear these on my longer or more difficult hikes, but for an easy hike, I'll definitely choose them. Don't get me wrong, if I didn't need ankle support, I'd wear them for all hikes, but I'm far too clumsy not to have mid-height boots at the least. The tread is impressive, and I definitely believe they'll be great for any type of walking I choose to wear them for. I have flat feet, so I sometimes struggle with shoes, but these are the right amount of support. My feet haven't hurt once since wearing them. I've even started using them on my walking pad at home. They aren't waterproof, so I'll have to keep that in mind for rainy days. But if you're looking for a light-weight trail running shoe, this could be a great choice for you!

Comfortable, could have better support
These shoes were comfortable, lightweight, and super cute. However I did not feel that the arch support was adequate. I don’t feel as if there was any arch support in these shoes. They were fine at supporting my ankles and easy to clean, but the lack of arch support was noticeable after one or two hikes. Fit was perfect, same size as my other running shoes. I liked how they didn’t look like a hiking boot so I didn’t have to change shoes to go eat after a long day outside if I did not have the time!

Wide toe box!
I love these shoes because of the wide toe box. No adjustment/ break in period for a beginner/ starting back up runner(10-15 miles a week). No blisters no pain. The laces are a bit short, but not too short ( I normally wear a wide shoe and have a high arch as well) I like the way the toes are roomy but the rest of the shoe stays snug on my foot preventing blisters. It’s far superior to trying to run in a pair of standard “wide” sneakers.

Awesome toebox!!
Incredible toebox!! Best shoes I’ve ever put on my feet. So comfortable with a perfectly sized WIDE toebox, yet still fit my somewhat narrow foot. Grippy traction. Awesome shoes.

Great hiking shoe!
This is my first pair of Altras. After reading the reviews I sized up. I’m normally an 8.5 but ordered a 9. Initially I thought I may need to size back down but realized I have more room because these shoes have a large toe box. Perfect for hiking because it gives your feet some “swelling” room. Zero break in period needed. I took them on my trip to Hike in Utah. They were super comfortable and griped well when transversing over the rocks. Very happy with these shoes.

Great shoe
Packaging was a little banged up and box was broken but the shoe looked like new and the right size!

Very comfortable
I ordered these after wearing Vivos for a while. These are really comfortable - more so than my Vivo Trail FGs. Sizing is accurate, I normally wear a 9 just to get the additional width or I wear a men's 7 for the same reason. Women's 9 is perfect, lots of width and toe room.

Great fit and colour!
I wear nothing but Altra shoes. They have a nice wide toe bed so my toes don’t get squished and my bunion doesn’t rub. I love the colour of these ones the most of any I have previously purchased.

Buenísimos.
Me encantan.
