Good Conversion Story Overall
I liked this book especially since the writer was a Catholic convert to Orthodoxy. He is very engaging in sharing his experiences and really is sincere in his concerns about Vatican 2 the Eucharist and Mass. I could relate except that I felt his report of music from Jesus Christ Superstar in the Mass a bit confusing. I remember hearing the soundtrack in my CCD class. I don't think any song from it would have been played during Mass at our church. I don't think it's a good example of what has happened in the Church and yes ..if anything from it was played in a liturgy....that would be concerning. I am not Orthodox for the reason the writer said he left. I have been to Orthodox Divine Liturgies and don't see a greater devotion or emphasis on the Eucharist then in the RC Church. I don't think the Orthodox Church practices adoration of the Sacrament which I believe in and practice as often as I can. For me the best argument for Orthodox Christianity is it's claim to be the true Christian Church of the Apostles with a Deposit of Faith going back to the Apostles. I'd like to know more about that but the book gives a point of view that is thought provoking and encourages the reader to research further on your own including the Documents of Vatican 2.
