Edgar Allan Poe: Poetry and Tales (Library of America)

This used book is in very good condition and arrived quickly. There is a great deal of Poe out there. Far more than I realized.

I now have several of these Library of America volumes and I love them. This one is no different. They are beautifully bound in various colors of fabric (uniform colored dust covers) with matching ribbon book mark. The binding is solid and durable. The pages are of a fine quality, print is a nice font. The collections within each volume are logical, complimentary, and often comprehensive of a particular author's type of work (e.g. collected poems, essays). These original works were written in english, so translation is not an issue. Editting has been accurate. As these are the works of the original authors, the true value of these volumes are in the works collected and the presentation. For any price, you could not be more pleased. However, because they are so well made, you can find excellent condition used versions for unbelievable prices. If you purchase books to own for your personal library, these will be a treasure on so many levels.

Wall-up your inferior Edgar Allan Poe collections, brick by brick, and laugh, laugh maniacally! These Library Of America editions are the only volumes that matter.This book has every short-story, novel (he only completed one: The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket), play and poem that is in known existence. From "William Wilson" to the oft-debated "unfinished" final story "The Light-House", it is all here. Well not ALL of it. For his essays and reviews get the second LOA volume.

After buying several books, and most of them containing the same stories and other works from E.A.P., this one has ALL his works. It has 1600, thin Bible-like pages, which takes a long time to read a story. Not that that's a bad thing. It contains all his classic ones, and a lot of other stories and poems that I've never heard of. A must have for all Edgat Allan Poe fans.

If you're looking for a complete Poe this is really the only one to get. It's so wonderful to have a copy of this edition in a affordable and portable format. If you ever admired the print edition grab the kindle copy.

It is a absolutely gorgeous book, the paper is soft, the design of the cover and texture are amazing and look great on the bookshelf. It contains ALL the poems and stories ever written by Poe and published, and even some other stories never published before! Recommended for true Poe fans.

The book arrived in ok condition but did not have a dust cover as depicted in the product photograph and did not state it didn’t come with one. May be a minor point but does not fit with my other Library of America volumes. All new volumes of this series come with dust jacket.

This was a gift for my boyfriend who talks often of his distant relative Edgar Allen Poe but wants to be more familiar with his writing. I thought this was a good place to start! This book is beautiful too, so it made a perfect Christmas gift!

The odds are that if you're reading this review, you know what to expect from an Edgar Allan Poe collection such as this. Allow me to confirm, this is certainly a cheap, cheerful and worthy compilation of some of his best work (in my opinion, mostly).Dive in and enjoy 😈

Acheté après avoir comparé les différentes éditions disponibles d'après les commentaires anglophones sur Amazon.Superbe édition reliée, sous boîte, belle couv. textile cramoisi (la jaquette est absente de mon exemplaire). Papier "permanent" agréable, belle impression en caractères de taille courante parfaitement lisibles. Bien que complète le volume reste parfaitement maniable pour lire confortablement dans un fauteuil ou au lit!Le texte est établi avec sérieux, les notes en fin de volume (sans numéros pour bien profiter du texte "brut") contiennent les traductions du latin et les références culturelles... Index des titres, index des 1es lignes des poèmes...En résumé, superbe édition, impeccable et réputée complète, grand confort de lecture, à un prix très accessible pour ce gros corpus incontournable dans la littérature mondiale. À recommander sans hésiter devant toutes les autres (typographie plus petite, papier médiocre, pas de notes, d'index ou de sommaire complet...). Un livre à garder toute la vie et qui fera belle figure dans la bibliothèque, et à relire en toute occasion!Pour les inconditionnels, un 2e volume contient les essais et articles.
