Cute decoration on my stove top!
I love egg-themed stuff. This is just perfect and brightens up my dark electric stove. Cracks me up! LOL.

Spoon rest
It's cook, and actually kind of looks like a fried egg...but not so realistic that it would be mistaken for a real fried egg (and risk damage when trying to clean up). The curled up edges, again, not super realistic, but add to practicality in holding utensils in place. I would have preferred the orange yolk, but they only had the yellow yolk available. I'm not sure where everyone buys their eggs. Orange yolks are indeed realistic and far from uncommon as long as you get your eggs from the farmer's market, a higher end supermarket, directly from a farmer, a specialty or better quality food store, etc. That pale yellow just seems more realistic if you're used to only buying the lower quality common supermarket eggs. Also, I appreciate that it's unglazed on the bottom. It makes it slide less. If you're worried about scratching, you can put something under it or perhaps don't drag your plates. In general, it's a bad habit to drag bowls, plates on your table, counter, stovetop, etc. Pick up and properly place your plates on a surface. Same goes for chairs... don't drag your chair. Properly pick it up and place it down. Do you drag your feet everywhere or make proper steps?

Adorable and very functional
My actual fried eggs never look this good, lol. The spoon rest is pretty much as pictured. The entire top and the undersides of the "ruffles" are all glazed with a smooth shiny glaze; the circular bottom (which isn't visible) is white and mostly a slightly roughened texture, which I like -- it won't slide on my stovetop. The "yolk" is a vibrant orange-yellow and the color edge is totally smooth and circular, no irregularities. It's slightly dome shaped, about 0.25 inch/4 mm higher than the bottom of the "white." (I'm estimating those measurements and might be a bit off; it's definitely higher than the base but not by much.) The dome is flattened and my spoons/spatulas don't slide off. The ruffles in the white keep my utensils from rolling. The ladles tend to roll sideways if I put the handle on the bottom but stay put if I have the handle on the side, with the side of the ladle resting on the "yolk."I'm delighted with my Fried Egg Spoon Rest. It keeps my stovetop and counter top clean, washes off easily (I handwash everything), and makes me laugh every time I see it. If you enjoy whimsical but very functional things, this might be right up your alley too.

suggests an egg rather than looking like an egg
This quirky spoon holder suggests an egg rather than looking like a real egg. There is someone locally who makes similar items that actually look like real eggs, so I was a little disappointed in this on. This egg is much larger, thicker than an egg, and the yolk is bigger and too round and flat. Of course the edges curl up in a way real eggs don't. The yolk is also bright orange, suggesting the hens must have been grass fed, or even fed lentils! One rarely if ever sees an yolk quite this orange. I wanted to bush it off until I figured out that it is supposed to be pepper. There is an option to get this egg with a yellow yolk, and no pepper, which a think I would have preferred. It is nice and shiny on top, suggesting a real egg. None-the-less, it is a fun spoon holder for the right kitchen. It is thick, heavy and solidly made of white ceramic. The spoon slides off of the yolk at the center which is disconcerting. However, one can place the spoon at the sides of the yolk and the ruffles hold it in place. This is something that can live on the counter between meals if you chose to just keep it out as a decoration.Update: I ordered the one with yellow egg yolk as well. Yellow yolk looks much more like your typical super market egg. I could see a child mistaking it for an egg as a reviewer said. The yolk is also a little more rounded, and slightly uneven. I think it said in the materials on this page that they were hand painted and each one was unique. Anyway, this one is more egg like than the orange on with pepper I got previously.

Cutest Spoon Rest Ever!
A few years ago, I broke my last spoon rest. I decided to forgo getting a new one and just get out a salad plate to use as one when I needed to have one. That’s worked just fine, and there’s one less thing on my counter (I am a minimalist at heart). However, I fell in love with this one the second I saw it, and I just had to have it. Now I do, and it’s sitting proudly on my stovetop. It’s about the size of a large fried egg…I wish it were a little bigger, but I can live with this size for sure. It has nicely crenelated edges, so places to rest implements. It makes me smile, and anything that makes one smile is a good thing, if you ask me.I will be washing and drying this one by hand, as I don’t want any chips to mysteriously appear on the edges. It’s just too cute for words!
