Excellent practical information
Reading Hildegard's original writings can be a bit overwhelming. This group of authors distill the information and also include her original words. Excellent read for all herbalists!

Caution to Catholics: This offers select secular translations through the lens of modern physicians
I got this for my wife who loves St. Hildegard and wants to read more of her writings. She really likes what the book has to offer, but cautions Catholics to realize that this is a secular translation that downplays and misrepresents Hildegard's primary focus on spiritual health, omitting her emphasis on the Sacraments—particularly Baptism, Confession, and the Eucharist—as the spiritual medicine that we need before any physical medicine. This book mostly presents her writings on physical health and medicines, which is all it claims to offer, after all, and which are great, but in Hildegard's view are insufficient when taken out of their full context. When it does briefly touch upon her writings on spirituality, it misrepresents them in the modern idea of a general spirituality of inner peace and personal happiness, when in reality Hildegard was a hard-hitting Catholic nun who wrote extensively about the necessity of the sacraments and the priesthood, and delved deep into Eucharistic theology. If she were around today, she might even smack the authors' knuckles with a ruler.

Holistic & all-encompassing wellness resource
As my second name is Hildegard, I was intrigued by my namesake. What an incredible woman, particularly for her time. I found her methods of treating body, mind, spirit & emotions all-encompassing & timeless. I've already starting concocting some of her cures. What I liked about the book was that there were numerous cures to choose from for each ailment so if one did not appeal to me for whatever reason, another did. I highly recommend this holistic & timeless resource to anyone serious about treating all the connecting aspects that contribute to their ailments. I've received her two other books & am looking forward to using them in conjunction with this one to formulate my own 'cures' for what may ail me.

Propre

An key contribution to natural health
Wow what a story there is behind the creation of this book. And what a fountain of knowledge it contains. Firstly an Abess wrote the notes in Latin around the early middle ages and then it lay dormant for hundreds of years until it was discovered in a library by Dr Hetzka translated it into German around the early 20th Century. More recently it has thankfully be translated into English.Medical science has made tremendous progress in the last century in particular, but before that these natural therapies were the medicine of the day. Many current medicines were derived from these original therapies and their properties and medicinal values are still as effective today as they were five hundred years ago.Read this book and learn.

Super achat

Hildegaard of Bingen for today
Very useful work filtering the thinking of one of the mediæval great minds through a contemporary medical lense to make it available to a modern audience.
