An inexpensive Ryzen 5 9000 series CPU that more than does the job.
I bought this to test to see if I had a bad motherboard or a bad CPU. It ended up being a bad motherboard. I decided to keep this CPU for a 2nd backup system in case my main system goes down again. Once I get the replacement motherboard since my motherboard was under warranty I'm going to be using this in my new system. I tested it with a RX 9070XT and a RTX 5070TI. For 1440p to 4k gaming this CPU handles most new AAA games with no issues. IMO I don't believe the average person buys a RX 9070XT or a RTX 5070TI to play games at 1080p unless they're extremely competitive ESports gamers or play competitive 1st person shooters. This CPU is very power efficient, does decent for the average PC user looking to web browse, do basic tasks, watch movies, light office tasks, listen to music and use mid range GPUs like the RX 9070XT or the RTX 5070TI to play games at 1440p or higher and it also pushes them well enough for video rendering applications. If you're looking for a CPU for competitive gaming I'd recommend at least the 7800X3D or 9800X3D and for professional use at least a 12c/24t or greater CPU like the 7900, 7950XT, 9900XT or the 9950XT. I could recommend Intel for professional use, but considering their price compared to the competing AMD products and worse power efficiency I wouldn't ATM.JMO, feel free to disagree.

Great processor
I paired this processor with a new MSI X870-P motherboard and 32GB Corsair DDR5 RAM to help futureproof my 5 year old set up for another few years. I was running an Intel 10400F and 24GB DDR 4 RAM. This new set up, paired with my RTX 3070, has made a world of difference. Games that were running 40-45 fps are now pushing 80-85 constant with no problem. Some, like Deep Rock Galactic, are a constant 110+ fps. I only have a 1080p monitor so this works great for the gaming I use it for. After installing an additional exhaust fan, the temps seemed to drop to the mid-70C range under load. I can't speak to a high dollar 4K set up on ultra settings, but it works great for mid-tier gaming. Of course it drops to $180 after I paid $220 for it in February...still worth it.

Great entry chip
I bought one of these for a recent build and was very happy with it: worked out of box, had an integrated gpu (I have a graphics card, but it’s nice in setup IMO to be able to go off an onboard gpu until the bios is updated), and was snappier than I’d expected. I ultimately upgraded to a 9-9900x when the typical price on those dropped from $450 down to $375. But that’s still pricey and this chip was performing.

Amazing CPU
This is an amazing little CPU. Plays everything max settings at 1440p when paired with a rx7900gre. I was able to overclock it to 5.65ghz with a -55 core voltage curve undervolt, and the infinity clock set to 2100mhz. I was originally only going to use this as a stepping stone to get into the am5 platform, but now I think I'm going to use this CPU for years to come. I got this on sale from Amazon at $180, and for that price it has amazing value! It does get fairly warm, especially doing benchmarks and stress tests. I paired it with a thermalright phantom spirit 120 Evo. I limited the TJ Max temp to 83⁰c, stock it's at 95⁰c. But during gaming it never goes above 70⁰c. To be honest, I think this Ryzen 5 is what most people need for 1440p gaming. Don't waste your money buying the more expensive chips, if you're only going to use it for gaming.

Great CPU for even Heavy gaming!
Great CPU! I see alot of hate on it on the internet but honestly its great! Perfect for a midrange Gaming PC. Plays anything you need, Havent had any issues! Very easy too cool aswell. a $35 water cooler has kept it below 50c steadily no matter the load. Very low power consumption Im assuming. Runs great! Much better option price wise than every other new or used AMD or Intel CPU!

Great for your money and upgrade path
It’s a great CPU I’d personally say that it’s probably a good choice for beginners it’s got the capability to play Triple A games it runs on the cooler side at 105 degrees I have it paired with a Intel arc A750 GPU and 16GB RAM and it’s a solid CPU for 1080p and 4K at minimum graphics
